Meet your Forest School leader
Ailbhe Joyce, Founder & Forest School Leader
(B.Ed & M.Sc. Sustainable Development)
Ailbhe grew up in the Slieve Bloom mountains and has a passion for nature and conservation! She has worked internationally as a primary school educator for over a decade; as a humanitarian worker for ulemu.com's education project 'School in an Envelope' in rural Malawi; and most recently as an Education Officer for Global Village.
Ailbhe has an M.Sc. in Sustainable Development (UCD) and is a fully qualified Forest School Leader (Level 3). She is certified in Children First Safeguarding (Tusla), holds a Rescue and Emergency Care certification for outdoor first aid (2023) and earned a Food Hygiene Certificate (Level 2, IFSA, 2023).
Become a Forest School Volunteer:
All Laois Forest School sessions have a maximum leader-student ratio of 1:12 with extra volunteers preferable where possible.
All Laois Forest School volunteers undergo the following checks and training:
1. Garda Vetting
2. Signing of Laois Forest School Child Protection Policy
3. Familiarisation with the Laois Forest School handbook
